PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The proposed project will be called NEW WAVE UMBRELLA. The project will be managed by MR. CHARLES NZIOKI, DIRECTOR.
BACKGROUND
The learning center was started in March, 2019 with an aim of saving and equipping the street urchins (street children) and the vulnerable slum children with knowledge and skills, in problem solving, capability of innovation, creativity, communication and interaction within and outside the society.
The learning center started with 15 children saved from the streets of Machakos with a single classroom and due to its growing the number of (51) pupils currently initiated new classrooms and a home. Currently it runs from primary one to grade 6, this year December NEW WAVE UMBRELLA was set to celebrate its 4th graduation which is interrupted by the
close of all learning institutions and banning of social gatherings due to the effect of the pandemic novel corona virus 19.The community fundraising which intended to honor the colorful history of the Centre and this significant milestone, with school’s 51 taking parts in various projects. NEW WAVE UMBRELLA is noted for its positive contributions in Bandani slums in terms of providing comprehensive quality education and nurturing talents in children as they grow through co-curriculum activities and a number of projects and vocational trainings offered at the Centre such as arts and innovations
